Design and Implementation of a Machine Learning Framework for Electrical Impedance Tomography

 

General Setting

Electrical Impedance Tomography is an imaging technique where one induces a current into a medium and measures voltages through electrodes to reconstruct the impedance distribution in the medium in order to reconstruct the underlying material properties. At iMEK we are researching on how to advance this technology to come up with accurate results in real time. A major part of our research will involve machine learning. In order to work at speed we require a well thought out and implemented Framework to deal with different reconstruction models and benchmark their performance. In the recent years in industry a methodology called MLOps raised and is gaining popularity. In this context different tools where introduced, which should be evaluated to drive an informed decision making.

 

Task Description

  1. General Research on the topic

  2. Define Evaluation Metrics

  3. Collection of different options.

  4. Evaluation of options.

  5. Implementation of the option.

 

There is Code present for one model that could be trained. We also have a Data generator in place. The student is required to implement a second Neural Network in order to be able to showcase how one could use the Framework for evaluating Neural Networks in the context of Electrical Impedance Tomography.
