Task Description / Aufgabenstellung
In the institute of Mechatronics for Mechanics we are developing an advanced mathematical model for Haptic Actuators. Haptic Actuators are vibration motors that operate in the vibrotactile frequency range to induce vibrations. They are widely used as exciters for haptic feedback in the automotive industry as well as for medical purposes. The mathematical modelling of such actuators in most use cases is rudimentary, leading to an oversimplified design. At the Institute for Mechatronics in Mechanics a thorough testing and modelling methodology was developed for modelling Vibrotactile Actuators. However, the aquired data are currently not accessible in a reasonable way. Therefor this thesis focusses to make measurement data and design models accessible to a broad audience considering physics and dynamics.
The resulting model can be used with a database of the parameters of different actuators to simulate their behavior. This simulation will then be core to an accessible platform.
Tasks
Build a simulation of the haptic actuator model suitable to be run on the database content in a web-oriented application
Analyze the results of the tests and reproduce them in simulation using the actuator characteristics and model
Automate the simulation process from the available data in the database
Present the results of the simulations on a webpage
Offer the users a choice and filtering method to choose and compare actuators from the database in their raw-parameters and the simulation
Opportunity, if you perform well: Create/write a paper on this task with the researchers of the institute to allow public access to the database.
