Task Description / Aufgabenstellung
As part of the SFB project at iMEK, a 256-electrode Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) system is being developed to enable fast, reliable, and scalable measurements. A key challenge lies in integrating a large number of electrodes into a single system while ensuring high signal integrity and modular expandability.
For the first prototype, an 8-electrode setup has been designed and requires verification. An STM32 microcontroller will be used to control the electronics and perform the measurements.
Given System Architecture:
STM32H7 microcontroller
8-channel ADC
2-channel DAC
Multiplexer (MUX)
The implementation shall first be carried out using development boards. Once validated, the design will be applied to the actual measurement system.
Requirements and Deliverables:
Clean, reusable, and well-documented codebase.
Modular software design, with each IC implemented as a separate class.
Stepwise development methodology with clear documentation of design decisions.
Demonstration of functionality on the prototype hardware.
Code and methods prepared to serve as a foundation for future expansions (e.g., scaling up from 8 to 256 electrodes).
